Firefox Addon, Create Notes Easily with quicknotes

There are many note-taking programs and tools available on the net. But if you are working within your browser, it might become a small inconvenient to switch windows every time you need to note down something. To reduce the time Firefox users spend on taking notes, we have a wonderful add-on available – QuickFox Notes.

Once you have downloaded this add-on, right-click on a blank space in the main menu toolbar in Firefox and click on Customize. Then locate and drag the add-on’s icon somewhere into the bookmarks toolbar:

When you left-click on this icon, a new note-taking window will open. If you want the QiuckFox window to open in a new tab (rather than a completely new window) simply middle-click on the add-on’s icon.

As you can see the note-taking area is neatly organized and even has its own tabs. In the image above, the tabs are all titled ‘New Note’. To add a new notes tab just double-click next to an already open tab.

Some shortcuts and controls for the notes include:

Editing shortcut:
1. Insert tab delimiter – Tab.
2. Remove tab delimiter – Shift+Tab.
3. Duplicate line/selection – Ctrl+D.
4. Go up line – Ctrl+Shift+Up.
5. Go down line – Ctrl+Shift+Down.
6. Uppercase – Ctrl+Shift+U.
7. Lowercase – Ctrl+U.

Mouse shortcuts:
1. Scroll on tab bar to switch tabs.
2. Right-click on tab to rename it.
3. Middle-click on a tab to close it.
4. Double-click on a tab to send it to the Archive.
5. Double-click on tab bar to make a new empty note.

Apart from these facilitating shortcuts, you can use the Transfer button to import or export your notes to a TXT file. In case you are wondering where QuickFox stores the notes you write, they are automatically saved in your bookmarks in a separate folder:

There is no ‘Save’ button to click. If you close your browser and reopen it, then click on the QuickFox icon, you will find your notes exactly as you left them.

QuickFox Notes makes note-taking possible within the browser which is a much needed function. Surely countless Firefox users will benefit from the plug-in.
